Proposed future events include:

  • OCCS OAC Fall Geocaching Event -

The Orange City Christian School Outdoor Adventure Club is requesting to put on a geocaching event at the Hillview Recreational Center located near Hinton Iowa. Details to be added in August and September.

    Saturday, September 11, 2010

  • Iowa's Biggest Event at Iowa's Biggest Lake -

    Who
:  MrRing along with Supergoober, The Weasel, Lake Red Rock Rangers and Lake Red Rock Association

What: A weekend event at Iowa's Biggest Lake

When: The weekend of September 18th and 19th

Where: Lake Red Rock, starting at the Ranger Station

We have recruited ten local geocachers to help with this event. Each cacher will be hiding ten caches (most if not all will be permanents) and we will be utilizing the whole Red Rock area, 13 miles from the dam to the northwest.  We will have a kids trail, hidden by one of the park rangers (these will be temporary caches) and all will be within easy walking distance of the ranger station.

    Saturday, September 18, 2010

  • IGO Hike -n- Seek 2010 -

Annual 2-day event somewhere near Ft. Madison?

    Saturday, September 25, 2010

  • A Tribute to Maggie Potts and Geocaching -

Location: Diamond Lake near Montezuma Iowa

    Date: 10/9 and 10/10/10

We are still working out the details but we'd like to have a 10th anniversary event and a tribute to Maggie Potts (a cacher from Montezuma who pass away nearly 5 years ago)

    Rules for the game:

You get 10 caches to start. Inside those 10 caches will be the coordinates for the next 10 caches and inside those 10 caches will be coordinates for the next 10 caches. Cachers can get as many as they want or as few.

We are also looking at having a potluck or just a campfire get together the night before. Food, fun stories and you get the coordinates for the starting spot for night caches.

All details are still being worked out.

MOGA (Mid-West Open Geocaching Adventure) is NOT an IGO event. In fact, it started as a SLAGA (St. Louis Area Geocachers Assoc.) event and has evolved into a mid-west tradition that may pass from one organization to another. Even though IGO has never been involved in planning or hosting this event, we have had a small contingent of cachers from Iowa present at the last couple of MOGA’s...and those who attended have had a good time despite some trying conditions. MOGA is a great early-Spring outing for anyone who enjoys geocaching and IGO encourages all members to consider participation in this event.
