Meet DKWatts!

1. What is your real name?

Don Watts and the K is my wife, Krista.

2. Where is your home location?

LeClaire, Iowa; where I grew up.

3. When did you start Geocaching?

We joined 9/7/2019

4. How did you learn about Geocaching?

I learned about geocaching when I bought a GPS for marking waypoints on lakes for ice fishing. The GPS had an app for it and wondering what it was, I looked it up on the internet. It sounded very interesting and one day, me and the wife were looking for something to do and I remembered reading about geocaching. I loaded the app on the phone and have loved it since.

5. What is your favorite part of Geocaching?

It is hard to say what our favorite part is, there is so much about geocaching that is so much fun. I guess it would be going places that we would have never have gone to or really even thought about going to see without geocaching. Also meeting all the other great people that love this game so much.

6. What types of caches do you enjoy most?

My favorite type of cache is the gadget caches. They can be such a challenge and great fun. I have a great appreciation for the CO’s that put these caches together. I know how hard they can be to build and maintain but it is all worth it. Then the mystery caches are great even though I’m not that great at them. They keep the gray matter sharp and some just drive you nuts.

7. What is the favorite cache you’ve found?

Our favorite one so far is GC543V7, MINGO MANOR TB HOTEL AND MEGA RESORT. This one was amazing and the biggest cache in Indiana.

8. Outside of Geocaching, what other hobbies/interests do you enjoy?

I have had many hobbies or at least have tried them. Right now, it’s fishing and ice fishing. I have done Scuba, have my pilots license, skydiving, archery, bowling, and motorcycles. And together, me and the wife love jigsaw puzzles.
