Meet SwanmanErenee7!

1. What is your real name?

Shawn

2. Where is your home location?

Carroll

3. When did you start Geocaching?

Officially we started our account in the summer of 2010. We found seven caches in Omaha. Then winter hit and we forgot about it for two years. We moved to Iowa in 2012 and stumbled across a geocache by accident.

4. How did you learn about Geocaching?

My wife heard about geocaching on a YouTube show called Philly D Show. She looked it up and told me about it.

5. What is your favorite part of Geocaching?

My favorite part of geocaching are the Geocachers. No matter where I've gone while caching it seems there's always a new friend to make.

6. What types of caches do you enjoy most?

My favorite cache is any one I can find.

7. What is the favorite cache you’ve found?

GC54RAC it takes a sharp eye to spot this one. The CO even raised the D rating from 3 to 4 before we found it. My wife and I worked on the ftf about four times. It was she that narrowed down the search area.

8. Outside of Geocaching, what other hobbies/interests do you enjoy?

Camping is always fun. Right now we are building a bus into a tiny house so that consumes alot of our off work time.

In addition, Shawn has been serving on the Board of Directors since September 2018.

1. What made you want to become a board member?

I was asked by another cacher, Hill Folk, if I'd accept her nomination for the BoD. And with my busy work schedule I didn't know if or how I could make it work. But I was still interested. It took two times of being nominated to get elected.

I wanted cachers from western Iowa to have some representation on the board. Since I've been a supporting member all the events have been east of Des Moines. Cachers I've spoken with out here either don't know about IGO or feel they are for eastern Iowa.

2. What have you enjoyed most about being on the board?

Since being on the board I've sponsored a section of highway and tried to hold the required CITOs. The first one went off fine and I learned alot. They second one was cancelled due to a family member passing. Then Covid19 hit and we had to cancel this year's spring Cito. Look for one more this fall, if they let it happen.

Thank you to SwanmanErenee7 for being a supporting member of IGO!
